Inspired by traditional coffee carts, OASIS turns everyday transactions into purposeful interactions: approachable design, intuitive movement, and visible social impact (each coffee = €0.50 to education). The result is higher attention, habitual buying, and an easily replicable system for campuses and events.
The insight was simple: students buy coffee every day, but rarely feel any connection to the institution serving it. OASIS turns that transaction into a visible act of community.
Context
A UAX × Filantrópico course project: design a campus coffee kiosk where every purchase funds scholarship programs, making philanthropy automatic for students who wouldn’t otherwise seek it out.
Approach
Design language
Inspired by the classic Mediterranean coffee cart: warm materials, open form, immediately welcoming. Powder-coated steel frame with reclaimed wood accents. Large-format impact counter (cups served → euros generated → scholarships funded) integrated directly into the cart’s face.
The social mechanism
Every cup served at €1.50 channels €0.50 into a scholarship fund managed by Filantrópico. QR receipts let buyers see the cumulative impact in real time. That feedback loop is what makes habitual buying feel like habitual giving.
Replicability
The cart is designed for flat-pack shipping and 2-hour assembly with standard tools. Event version collapses to fit a standard van. The design system (graphics, signage, impact counter) is templated so any campus or event can deploy it without custom work.
My role
I designed the kiosk concept, form language, and impact integration model as part of a UAX cohort project, responsible for the full visual and structural concept from brief to presentation.
Impact
After the cohort review, the professor confirmed our design was among the two finalists under consideration. The kiosk was designed so that one third of every coffee’s profit goes directly to the university’s scholarship and education programs, turning a daily transaction into recurring philanthropy without changing the user’s behavior.
